Our Vision is for children to have access to exceptional teaching methods, play music for pleasure, and have the opportunity to develop their skills to a level that can enable them to pursue a career in music.
Our Mission is to provide young people with the tools and inspiration to achieve their full potential as brass and woodwind musicians.
At the core of our programmes are the same exceptional teaching methods found at The Juilliard School, Royal Academy of Music and Boston University - and specially adapted for schools in Singapore. This systematic programme produces remarkable results. Already implemented at the Singapore American School, the BrassArt® system has produced improvements in just 8 weeks.
Partners In Brass was established to help schools elevate musical standards through renowned teaching techniques taught by master musicians. Underpinning our approach is the belief that motivating and inspiring students to enjoy music produces the best results.

Measuring performance and progress is a hallmark of our approach. Weaker students aren’t left behind, while singularly talented individuals are identified and propelled on a fast track. |

Attention to fundamentals is key to good musicianship. Our teachers have the expertise to individually match students to the appropriate instruments and mouthpieces; and the experience to teach young musicians critical techniques such as proper embouchure and breathing. |

Long-term commitment is necessary to develop musicianship. BrassArt® nurtures a child from as young as 7-years-old all the way to junior college. It will prepare a student for higher education in music or a professional career. |
The three founding partners – David Smith, Jamie Hersch and Fredi Sonderegger - have all worked and lived in Singapore for many years. They are the Associate Principal musicians in their respective instruments with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. They have been taught by world-renowned teachers, and have performed with legendary musicians such as Claudio Abaddo, Mstislav Rostropovich, Jost Meyer and others. The partners are faculty members of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and the School Of The Arts.
Partners In Brass was established because they are committed to staying on in Singapore indefinitely and wish to contribute to the development of brass musicianship in this country they enjoy so much.
To ensure success of the business, Partners In Brass has two directors who are accomplished businessmen. Ian Ingram is President & CEO of a publicly-listed global company; Duncan Merrin is a Chartered Accountant and management consultant with 20 years experience in Asia.
